Volunteering with Home Basics can bring great benefits
to both the organisations and to volunteers.
For Home Basics it
provides a vital source of help and skills to supplement our small
number of staff. We rely on volunteers to help with running the charity
(all of our Board of Directors are volunteers) and to manage many of
the day-to-day tasks including sales, organising, furniture restoring
and sales.
As a volunteer we can
offer you the opportunity to develop your employability skills, gain
valuable employment experience, improve your CV, and provide references
for employers. We understand that while some volunteers may want
to use volunteering as a springboard to bigger things, many others just
want to use their time constructively, meet new friends, or simply do something different.
We hope to cater for all types of volunteers, and
aim to provide a friendly, effective volunteering experience for
everyone involved.
In having two depots, one in Walkerburn and Hawick, Home Basics can provide volunteering opportunities at both. We can meet all travel costs and provide expenses so that
your volunteering won’t cost you a penny.
